CCF AWARDS $6.6M IN GRANTS TO HEALTH ORGANIZATIONS IN CENTINELA VALLEY AREA

LOS ANGELES—The California Community Foundation awarded 17 grants totaling
$6,645,346 Wednesday to hospitals and organizations providing health services and
education to Centinela Valley residents in the South Los Angeles area.

“We’re doing our part to ensure that organizations provide critical health services
to this population with such a great need, especially in light of the ongoing health care
crisis in South Los Angeles,” said Antonia Hernández, President and CEO.

The Centinela Medical Funds, from which the grants were disbursed, support
hospitals and community-based organizations serving economically disadvantaged
residents in Compton, El Segundo, Inglewood, Hawthorne, Lawndale, Lennox, South Los
Angeles and Watts. Priorities include access to primary and specialty care, mental health,
dental care and other health-related services.

Grantees include UMMA Community Clinic, to provide free and low-cost primary
medical care services; Children’s Dental Center, to provide oral health education and
dental services; St. Francis Medical Center, for its mobile medical unit; and Little Company
of Mary Hospital, to provide specialty care to under- and uninsured patients. Learn more
about all the grant recipients in the table below.

Founded in 1915, the California Community Foundation is one of the leading
philanthropic organizations in Los Angeles County, managing more than $1 billion in
assets. Each year, it grants over $100 million as investments in the future of our local
communities. The foundation partners with individual donors and actively supports
nonprofit organizations to address diverse and dynamic needs of our communities. The
expertise and commitment of CCF enables individuals, families and organizations to
